Ongoing service technician training is our key to success

Professionalism in all we do …

You don’t stay in business long by being “just okay” at what you do. Going on 105 years in the roofing, remodeling, handyman, and HVAC service and repair business, we take a lot of pride in the work we perform as part of the Besel’s Home Improvement family.

We appreciate that our clients most often acknowledge us for our professionalism and on-the-job know how in our post-visit surveys. But we strive to be the best in all areas of the services we provide to our customers. As a result, we regularly train our service technicians on all aspects of the customer experience.

Seasonal peaks in workload come and go, but we do our best to meet every other week to learn, train, and discuss the following topics:

  • Service techniques
  • Diagnostics
  • Customer relations
  • Current equipment safety and training videos
  • Computer-aided technical training

Several of our team members are North American Technical Excellence (NATE) certified HVAC service technicians. Just to keep them on their toes, our own Randy Kenton (seen below leading a recent training session), who holds a Master Mechanical construction contractor license, invites them to occasionally take turns leading training sessions in their areas of expertise.

In the spring and fall the entire crew attends mandatory refresher courses on the Lennox and Carrier heating and cooling lines as well.

Over the years technology has really advanced the way we do our jobs. As such we find that’s where we spend the greater amount of time in our sessions. It’s not the most glamorous of careers, but staying up to date on the latest technology allows us opportunities to constantly learn and grow. That in itself is a worthy reward.
